NEWS PICS UP///////
We have our first look at Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire thanks to Bulgarian fan site Potter-Mania.com. It features Gregory Goyle (Josh Herdman), Draco and Viktor Krum (Stanislav Yanevski) sitting at the Slytherin table in the Great Hall of Hogwarts:

Draco's appearance remains pretty much unchanged from his dramatic makeover in Prisoner of Azkaban.

Another new still from the film shows Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Mad-Eye Moody (Brendan Gleeson) squaring off:

EVEN MORE NEW PICCSSS//////

Warner Bros. have forwarded us the high resolution photo that appeared in last week's issue of Entertainment Weekly.

The pictureopens in new window features Harry, Professor Dumbledore, Mad-Eye Moody and Karkaroff right after Harry is chosen to participate in the Tri-Wizard Tournament.

TEASE TRAILER SHOWN IN BRITIAN*
The second teaser trailer for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was shown yesterday on British morning show GMTV, and thanks to Veritaserum, we have it available online. Most of the footage has been seen in some form before but there are some new shots and audio.

You can download it here (4.7MB, Windows Media format). It may be a low quality version but it's still worth viewing. We've already inquired with Warner Bros. about a higher-quality release and will bring it to you as soon as possible. Enjoy!

UPDATE: Warner Bros. has confirmed that this is the "international teaser trailer" and not the full theatrical trailer, which is generally around two minutes long. According to WB, the international teaser will not be made available online in any official capacity.

TOM FELTON UPDATE!!!!!
would seem that fishing and Tom Felton go hand-in-hand. Once again, Harry Potter actor Tom Felton will be attendingopens in new window the annual Junior Carp Tournament on the St. Lawrence River in New York this coming weekendopens in new window.

Tom participatedopens in new window in the tournament in 2003 but was unable to attend last year dueopens in new window to the filming commitments of Goblet of Fire.

TWINS SPEAK OF GOF[][][][][][
James and Oliver Phelps, Fred and George Weasley, from the Harry Potter movies attended CauldronCon in the U.S. this past weekend and in a Q&A session they discussedopens in new window Goblet of Fire, their favorite scenes in the upcoming movie and more.

On Goblet of Fire:

Oliver: The fourth film is really a lot different then the other films that have come out. The director, Mike Newell, is an English director and it’s got a lot more of an English feel to it. So we could relate to the part a lot more.

James: Chris and Alfonso were really nice to work with as well. All three directors were really nice people. They had different ways of doing things. Chris was hands on, Alfonso was very hands on and Mike is very, very hands on!

James: Goblet of Fire has to be my favorite so far.

Are there any behind the scenes pranks you can tell us about?

James: *laugh* We can’t go into detail about them but we do have a joke with quite a few people but we can’t go into details about some of them, because then they’ll know who did them!

Oliver: We can’t really talk about behind the scenes secrets. You’ll probably have to wait for the DVD to come out.

ALRIGHTT!!!! thats all for nowwwww =)

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was EXCELLENT!!!!BRILLIANT!!!!FANTASTIC!!!....and dreadfully sad! Was anyone becoming teary-eyed come end of the book??? 'Cause I sure was. I wonder why she chose to do that? Well, I trust JK completely. hahahaha

“GOF” WOW’S AUDIENCE AT COMIC-CON

The film version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire got star treatment at this year's Comic-Con, which showcases the sci-fi/fantasy genre of entertainment.

Along with peeks at Pirates of the Carribbean 2 and The Chronicles of Narnia, AOL Moviefone said of the latest Potter flick: "The footage looks dark and fantastic... All the smart Potter fans couldn't keep from cheering in excitement."

The specially cut trailer gave a sneak peek at the Tri-Wizard's tournament, Durmstrung's aquatic appearance, a perfectly creepy Mad Eye Moody, and best of all, even the tiniest glimpse of He Who Shall Not Be Named.

What stood out most about the footage was how quickly the young stars are growing up. Newell wasn't kidding when he quipped the biggest fear Harry may have to conquer is girls!

JK ROWLING MOST POWERFUL WOMAN IN BRITIAN

According to Forbes magazine Harry Potter author JK Rowling has replaced British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s wife, Cherie Blair, as the most powerful woman in the Britain.

Ms. Rowling came in at number 40, up from number 85 last year, while Cherie Blair slipped to number 62 on the list.

Rowling, 40, is a media dynamo. Her Harry Potter books have sold a stunning 270 million copies in 62 languages worldwide. Her sixth installment of the Harry Potter blockbuster series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, sold a breathtaking 6.9 million copies in its first 24 hours of release and is the largest-ever product debut on Amazon.com. Generating more than $100 million in revenue, her new book's debut is not only the richest opening in publishing history but also gave heart palpitations to the makers of the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which debuted the same weekend as the new book. This seven-year phenomenon is not letting up anytime soon, though Rowling has said the seventh installment will be her last. Harry Potter movies, with their antic capers of magic and wizardry at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, have grossed an impressive $2.5 billion to date, including DVDs.

WANT ‘HBP’ ANSWERS???

Many Harry Potter fans have questions since reading Half-Blood Prince and David Haber, managing editor of Wizard News was one of them. Once he got over the initial shock of the ending he created a web site to help explain the clues that were along the way, and in his words: "…that the bad ending of the book may have been not really so bad after all."

Mr. Haber readily admits that nobody really knows what will happen in the last book:

Of course only J.K. knows, but she's not telling, and we won't find out the answers until the next book comes out, which is at least two years away from now. For now, all we have is each other, our discussions and debates as to what is really happening in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

The web site tries to answer the most important questions in Half-Blood Prince but only go to the web site if you have finished the book.

NEW INTERVIEWS WITH TRI-WIZARD TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS

With the release of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire just a few months away, we can expect to see some interviews and articles appear. ComingSoon was lucky enough to attend a set visit late last year and have now published their interview with Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory), Clémence Poéy (Fleur Delacour) and Stanislav Ianevski (Viktor Krum). Ianevski had this to say when asked about working with director, Mike Newell: "He creates a really strong atmosphere when he's around, and I think it's also really motivating for the actors."

Each of the actors discuss their experience of working on the Goblet of Fire film:

CS!: How does it feel to be the new blood in such a popular series of movies?

Robert Pattinson: Well, I thought it would be more daunting then it has turned out to be. I think I've kind of integrated pretty easily, but everyone's pretty friendly, so it's not particularly difficult to do that. I think being a "new blood" hasn't really affected me that much.

Stanislav Ianevski: I feel as if what I've been doing hasn't really changed me, as well. I feel as if I'm a part of a new family now. I've settled down really well, I think.

CS!: How was it shooting the Tri-Wizard scenes?

Robert: The maze right at the beginning was tough, physically demanding stuff. It's me and Stan and Dan doing it for most of the time, and most of the special effects are kind of real. The whole thing was hydraulic, so the maze is crushing and squeezing in on you, and no one knew if you were going to sort of die, because it closed the whole way. It was all pretty exciting stuff. I had never done anything like that before.

Stan: It was the very first thing we were doing, as well, and we had quite a few laughs. We were at some times a bit scared.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire opens on November 18th.

‘GOF’ VIDEO GAME CLIPS

OKAY!!! I would like to start out with this statement: HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE IS AMAZING! Ah, you have done it again J.K.
Anyway, sorry for the delay, I have been doing this and that (not to metion my sister is addicted to the computer... blah) so again I apologize.

FIRST BOOK REVIEW; NOTE::: BIG SPOILERS

It's here; Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is officially released, and the first of the reviews has now been published. In a hugely spoiler-ific article, the New York Times calls this "the darkest and most unsettling installment yet."

Harry still has his wry sense of humor and a plucky boyish heart, but as in the last volume ("Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"), he is more Henry V than Prince Hal, more King Arthur than the young Wart. He has emerged, at school and on the Quidditch field, as an unquestioned leader: someone who must learn to make unpopular decisions and control his impetuous temper, someone who must keep certain secrets from his schoolmates and teachers.

Throughout the article, the reviewer continues to caution that this novel is indeed a darker book saying "it grows progressively more somber, eventually becoming positively Miltonian in its darkness, even suggesting the ending scenes "may well be too alarming for the youngest readers."

While dark it may be, the review also notes that during the course of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince "it suffers, at moments, from an excess of exposition. Some of Dumbledore's speeches to Harry have a forced, summing-up quality, and the reader can occasionally feel Ms. Rowling methodically setting the stage for developments to come..."

That being said, the review is mostly favorable, praising J.K. Rowling's work.

"... the suspense generated by these books does not stem solely from the tension of wondering who will die next or how one or another mystery will be solved. It stems, as well, from Ms. Rowling's dexterity in creating a character-driven tale, a story in which a person's choices determine the map of his or her life - a story that creates a hunger to know more about these people who have become so palpably real.

Indeed, the achievement of the Potter books is the same as that of the great classics of children's literature, from the Oz novels to "The Lord of the Rings": the creation of a richly imagined and utterly singular world, as detailed, as improbable and as mortal as our own.

HARRY AND THE POPE
It would seem that lettersopens in new window that the current Pope wrote back in 2003 have recently surfaced condemning the Harry Potter books. The letters from Pope Benedict were written to German author Gabriele Kuby, who has written a book called Harry Potter - Good or Evil.

It had been widelyopens in new window reported that the Vatican had approved the Harry Potter books back in 2003. A statementopens in new window from Fr. Peter Fleetwood stated that the books helped children “to see the difference between good and evil” and was reported as official approval by the Vatican even though it was his personal opinion given during a press conference to discuss the appeal of New Age religions and practices and the Catholic Church.

Also thanks to The Leaky Cauldron for pointing out that today’s radio address from the Vatican addressed this issue by stating that the remarks by the Pope and the Vatican had been mininterpreted:

Mon. Fleedwood says:

And in fact, Rowling's books all follow the classical mythological pattern and good always triumphs over evil. She studied classical mythology at the university and uses that structure of myth as the basis of the way she writes her novels. She also was brought up as a Christian and I mentioned that in the famous press conference. People quoted that as saying that I had said that her books were imbued with Christian morals. I said no such thing. I simply suggested that there's no ignoring your own background. I also said that she's not the kind christian your average zealous priest might want, in the sense of practicing religion every week, but there is no denying that she has a christian background. I said no more.

WHEN MELISSA MET JO...

As many of you know :) our very own Melissa Anelli is in Edinburgh for the release weekend of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Along with Emerson from MuggleNet, Melissa will soon be sitting down for a very special interview with J.K.Rowling. The Guardian has posted an interview with Melissa, who talks about this wonderful opportunity to meet and speak with the author of our beloved Harry Potter books.

"She [Rowling] said that we do a great job with the sites and she knows we will bring it back to the fans in an ethical and responsible manner," Ms Anelli said yesterday. "By asking us to interview her, she's guaranteeing that the fans get the best interview they can."

Melissa also addressed the criticism of all the hype surrounding the Harry Potter books and this release.

Ms Anelli insists the hype only exists because the story is so strong. "It's not only that it's fast-paced and wildly imaginative, it's that the people you are meant to love, you love with all your heart. All I want to do is hug Harry and tell him that it's OK," she said.

"If people say I'm being too obsessive, I tell them I hope they find something they love so much. As for the hype, I think people have a natural tendency to knock whatever is popular, they can't accept when something is simply that good. But it is simply that good."

VIDEO OF J.K. READING FROM HALF BLOOD PRINCE
The video of JKRowling reading an excerpt from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is now available online.

Also the special two minute video clip of JKR introducing the Half-Blood Prince is now on the Barnes and Noble website here.

HARY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE RELEASE
The first wire reports are starting to come out now, with more details of our favorite author at her special midnight release party in Edinburgh, Scotland. This reports quotes JKR as saying:

Excited, I am excited," Rowling, 39, dressed in a black dress and black jacket, told a group of reporters as she was ushered along a red carpet, stretching to the castle.

"There are a lot of answers in this book," she said, above the noise of the crowd, packed into chairs and behind barriers.

"I can't wait for everyone to read it," she said, adding that she had left a copy of the book with her daughter.

"When I left her she was laughing at something," Rowling added.

REPROTED BY HPANA: TRAILER RELEASE
We previoiusly reported that a trailer for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire would be showing yesterday at Comic-Con in San Diego.

You can read the rest of the review of the trailer shown at Comic-Con hereopens in new window:

One scene included was Harry's talk with a put-out Ron about how he did not submit his name for the tournament, but he was chosen anyway. There was also a shot of the big dance, with Harry, Ron and Hermione all spiffed up. Dragons, mermaids and a dash of Hagrid rounded out the exclusive look.

You can read another review hereopens in new window from AICN.

QUESTIONS ANSWERED!
The most recent poll question at JKRowling.com has been explained:
So how DO the members of the Order of the Phoenix communicate with each other?
I was surprised that this particular question won the poll, because the answer (as I've already said) can be found in an already-published book (Goblet of Fire), whereas the other two questions related to book six. But perhaps I was influenced by the fact that I knew the other two questions had interesting answers – and, of course, you will shortly know the answers to those questions anyway!
Members of the Order use their Patronuses to communicate with each other. They are the only wizards who know how to use their spirit guardians in this way and they have been taught to do so by Dumbledore (he invented this method of communication). The Patronus is an immensely efficient messenger for several reasons: it is an anti-Dark Arts device, which makes it highly resilient to interference from Dark wizards; it is not hindered by physical barriers; each Patronus is unique and distinctive, so that there is never any doubt which Order member has sent it; nobody else can conjure another person's Patronus, so there is no danger of false messages being passed between Order members; nothing conspicuous needs to be carried by the Order member to create a Patronus.(Dumbledor's patronus is indeed a phenoix)

Oh Hello there again!!! It has been a while and there are more news stories to...erm... relay to everyone! hahahaha. But this time, I would really would hope to see more comments!!!!!! Pretty, pretty please!!! hahaha

JASON ISAACS WANTS 'HARRY POTTER' FANS TO DESPISE HIM
Jason Isaacs, who portrays Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, is becoming more like his character he says. In an effort to remain in character he avoids answering his fan mail, he also comments that he’s enjoyed playing Lucius and that he hopes that he will be in the next movie and that author Rowling continues to write Harry Potter books for years to come.

I'm carefully cultivating an entire generation of people who despise me, because when you're in 'Harry Potter' films you get a lot of fan mail... I haven't answered any of it, so they will hate me even more than they did to start with. They probably spent their pocket money sending me a stamped, addressed envelope. Number four is finished. I'm not signed up for number five; I haven't got a script for [it] yet, but I understand I have some things to do in the book and, if they ask me, then I would be hoping to be in it. Because that is good fun, it's ridiculously good fun to dress up as a wizard ... I hope that [JK Rowling] writes it until Harry Potter is 65 years old and on a walking frame.

'HARRY POTTER' REFRENCES ADDED TO CHILDRENS DICTIONARY
The new edition of the Oxford Primary Dictionary now includes some Harry Potter references aimed to help seven-to-11-year-olds understand the meanings of words. The new issue includes the words insolent, lounge and haphazardly.

Insolent, adjective - very rude and insulting, quoted from The Prisoner of Azkaban: "Malfoy gave Professor Lupin an insolent stare, which took in the patches on his robes and the dilapidated suitcase."

Haphazardly is explained by a quote from The Chamber of Secrets: "Mrs Weasley was clattering around, cooking breakfast a little haphazardly, throwing dirty looks at her sons as she threw sausages into the frying pan."

And Professor Snape makes malevolent easy: "'A bad idea, Professor Lockhart,' said Snape, gliding over like a large and malevolent bat."

Andy Simpson, a spokesman for Oxford Children's Books said:

All authors use language creatively. Some enjoy playing with words and pushing children with a more stretching, challenging use of language. But the Oxford Primary Dictionary is the first children's dictionary to use real citations taken from a large range of the best of children’s literature.

And its choice of citations from texts children are intimately familiar with, sets a fantastic example for children and helps improve their reading and writing skills. Far from a traditional boring textbook, the Oxford Primary Dictionary is a fun reference book which can form the basis of interactive sessions in class and at home.

The dictionary features hundreds of citations from children's authors including JK Rowling, Philip Pullman and Roald Dahl.
